This is a shot of Nakura, the male
Cheetah at the Memphis Zoo. Unfortunately, due to medical complications brought on by old age (If I recall he was over 15 years old) he passed away a few months ago. :( He was one of my favorite cheetahs as he had kind of a black fringe to his fur that gave him a darker, some would call it evil, look. He will be missed.

wow, 15 is very old. I heared they would become 8 on average.
His fur looked quite dark indeed; I wonder if this was because of his age.

Cheetahs are naturally a bit skinny looking, but he was a bit on the lean side. This is one of the last photos that I took of him before he passed away. I am told that he had stopped eating regularly despite their best efforts. :(

He did pretty well getting to 15! Such a beautiful and majestic creature. I can imagine that he would've been a very powerful cat in his time. Wonderful photo. :)

The average age of Cheetahs in the wild is about 7 years. In captivity it is 11 - 12 years.
